International Masters Hockey is self-funded by the squads that represent their countries, making cost can be a barrier to entry for some.
For a group based on inclusivity it is vital that costs are reduced as much as possible for each tournament, event, or single match.
All training matches and weekends away under our control are arranged to drive down the cost element.
For training held in Ireland we seek where possible complementary pitch hire and collaborate closely with clubs to take our International Masters training around the island.
When travelling for weekend matches, we try to fly out on a Saturday morning play in the evening and again on Sunday morning before flying home Sunday night. By working with our international opposition and selecting cities away from the main tourist areas we try to find cheaper flights, hotels, and ground costs.
The main additional cost for a player apart from the flight, hotel and food is their proportion of the management and coach’s costs. We are clear in our policies how these costs are calculated and provide transparency to everyone. But we cannot run events without the support of the management team.
In the current economic climate Sponsors are rare and therefore incredibly valuable when someone is generous enough to offer support.
It is vital therefore to ensure that we offer the sponsor something back for their generosity and we try to ensure that logos are prominent in all photos and press opportunities to mention the vital part they play are not missed.
As a group we have been extremely fortunate to gain the support of the following generous companies that are listed below. Thank you.
A dictionary definition of the word sponsor - the act of supporting an event, activity, person.
As we grow older, we need support of others to allow us to play in the sport we love, and family encouragement is vital to us.
As a group we focus on the social side of the game as well as the pitch success. We actively want to engage with partners and children, and they are always invited to attend matches. By way of example the World Cup in South Africa in 2022 has 18 partners paid to travel with the group.
